The Court of Appeals has sentenced Isuf Hasa to life imprisonment, accused of murdering his neighbor, Xhemal Meta.
According to the verdict, Hasa was found guilty of committing the crime, after he fatally hit Meta with a hammer. Investigations revealed that the incident occurred during an attempted robbery, which ended with fatal consequences for the victim.
The appeal has assessed that this is a serious crime, leaving the maximum sentence in effect due to the dangerousness and serious consequences for human life.
We recall that two days after the crime, the perpetrator explained to judicial officers the entire dynamics and motive behind his crime.
The author stated that he had gone to Xhemal Meta's house, had coffee and argued there. According to Hasa's claims, the victim, in addition to bullying and insulting him, had also harassed his wife.
"On January 13th, I went to Xhemal's house in the morning and had coffee. After we finished, we were going to the village bar. In the yard of his house, I saw the hammer and I took it and shot it from behind. I shot it because he had been insulting me for a long time. I had realized that he was harassing my wife. I work as a night watchman in Dajt and there were times when I didn't go home for several nights. Xhemal would call me and say, 'How come you didn't give us your wife's brandy once?' I couldn't stand it for a while. After I killed him, I took the money. I knew he had the money because he himself had told me. Then I went to the electric station and drove to Tirana in one of their cars. Then I went to the girl's house in Vora where I hid the hammer ," said 64-year-old Hasa.
