Anti-mafia strikes Albanian drug network in Italy, 28 people arrested from Milan

Since the early hours of Tuesday (April 14), the codenamed "Daku" operation has been underway in Italy, within the framework of which 28 precautionary measures have been executed by the State Police in several provinces, where most of the detainees are Albanian citizens.

The operation was coordinated by the Antimafia and operational structures of Trento, with the involvement of the Investigative Section of the Central Operations Service in Trieste. The action focused on hitting a drug trafficking network operating in the province of Bolzano.

According to the data, the group was engaged in the trafficking and distribution of narcotics, while the operation is still ongoing and more details are expected to emerge.

The name "Daku" is related to the nickname or pseudonym that, according to investigations, was often used by Albanian suspects to refer to each other.

The measures against 28 people are being carried out by investigators from the Bolzano Flying Squad, in collaboration with police forces from Belluno, Trento, Venice, Verona and Vicenza, as well as the SISCO units from Brescia, Trento, Trieste and Venice. The Central Operations Service, the crime prevention units from Milan and the dog units from Ancona, Milan and Padua are also involved in the operation.

According to Italian media, 10 of the suspects have been placed in prison, 8 others under house arrest, while 10 people have been ordered to stay in their homes.

The operation has also affected other provinces, including Barletta-Andria-Trani, Brescia, Monza Brianza, Pordenone and Sondrio.
