The Greek police in cooperation with the American DEA seized 585 kg of cocaine in Thessaloniki and arrested 5 Albanians, four of whom were related to each other.
One of the arrested is also the head of the criminal group. He is Arjan Xhafaj, 50 years old from Cakran i Fier, and his wife, Lutmira Xhafaj 42 years old, owner of a coffee bar in Cakran, was also arrested with him.
The operation took place yesterday at around 17.40, when the Greek police initially stopped a vehicle in Thessaloniki, which turned out to be rented. The driver of the vehicle was the 21-year-old from Cakran i Fier, Klevis Muskaj. In his vehicle, the Greek police seized 239 packages with 280 kg 758 grams of cocaine.
10 minutes later, an attempt was made to stop another vehicle in the "Neous Epibates" area. The driver of the vehicle, in an attempt to leave, crashed into a police vehicle and then crashed into the perimeter of a school. He was identified as Avelino Feimi, 33 years old, from Vlora.
The two drivers are Arjan Xhafaj's nephews. The Greek police continued with the search in Xhafaj's apartment, where they seized 23 packages with 26 kg 701 grams of cocaine, 1 metal detector, 12 IKEA bags, 1 metal cutter, 1 pack of disposable gloves, 1 pair of professional scissors.
Apart from him and his wife, Ilirian Baraj, 35 years old from Fieri, with Greek citizenship, was also found and arrested in the apartment. During the body search of the arrested, 7440 euros, 7 mobile phones, 4 bank cards and hand notes were found and seized.
