The police have solved the case of the gunshot wound to 35-year-old Akil Tahiri, which occurred on the morning of April 24 in the village of Gurëz, in Kurbin, while they have identified and declared the suspected perpetrator wanted.
According to the official announcement, the first investigative actions resulted in Akil Tahiri having a conflict, for weak motives, with citizen Fation Cobelita, alias Fation Staka, 40 years old, resident of the village of Gorre, who is suspected of having wounded him in the leg with a firearm.
In connection with the incident, citizen Renato Marku, 26, is also wanted, suspected of failing to report a crime. According to the police, he accompanied the injured man to the hospital and then left, abandoning the vehicle he was traveling in.
The incident took on another dimension after verifications at the Laçi hospital, where the injured man arrived at around 10:20. According to the police, the doctor on duty did not notify the law enforcement agencies, but sent the 35-year-old for specialized treatment at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana. For this reason, criminal proceedings have been initiated against him in absentia for the offense of "Abuse of duty".
Authorities say FC is charged with "Intentional Serious Injury" and "Unlicensed Possession of Weapons," while RM is charged with "Failure to Report a Crime."
"The dynamics of the incident that occurred yesterday morning, in the village of Gurëz, Kurbin, where a 35-year-old man was wounded by gunfire, are being clarified. The perpetrator has been identified and is wanted.
Another citizen was also declared wanted for failing to report a crime. The hospital's doctor on duty is also being prosecuted for failing to notify the police.
Following the information provided about the incident that occurred on 24.04.2026, after the first investigative actions, it has resulted that: Citizen AT has conflicted, suspected of weak motives, with citizen FC, alias FS, who is suspected of having injured the 35-year-old.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Macedonian citizen accompanied the 35-year-old to the hospital and then left, abandoning the vehicle he was traveling in.
It appears from the actions that, at around 10:20, a 35-year-old man arrived at the Laçi hospital wounded in the leg by a firearm (pistol), and the doctor on duty did not notify the Police services, but sent him for treatment to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.
At the end of the first investigative actions, the following citizens were declared wanted: FC, alias FS, 40 years old, resident of the village of Gorre, Kurbin, for the criminal offenses "Intentional serious injury" and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition"; RM, 26 years old, resident of the same village, for the criminal offense "Failure to report a crime".
Also, criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen AI, 58 years old, resident of Kurbin, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", for failing to perform his functional duty.
"Work continues in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office for the complete legal documentation of the case. The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of General Jurisdiction in Lezha, for further action," the police announced.
