The Durrës police have launched a search for a three-year-old child whose father died in a road accident a year ago. The child lived with his mother.
The boy's grandfather, 58-year-old Rexhep Gjuni, was arrested for this incident, while his wife was wanted.
Another person, who is suspected of having knowledge of the location of the minor boy, was also detained. Rexhepi and his wife have taken their grandson every week to keep him for a few hours in their family as they usually did, but this time they did not return him to his mother.
Sources from the Durrës Police say that the search for the 3-year-old boy has been going on for four days, but it has not been possible to locate him. Faced with this situation, the mother of the 3-year-old called her ex-father-in-law, but was unable to communicate with him. After that, the mother went to the Durrës Police and filed a complaint about the son's disappearance.
After the arrest, the child's grandfather Rexhep Gjuni stated that the child is in Kukës with some relatives, but the Kukës Police did not find him. Afterwards, the 3-year-old's grandfather, Rexhepi, refused to cooperate with the police.
Initially, it is suspected that the child has left the country, while the Durrës Police has requested increased vigilance from the border points. The child's mother has stated that she does not know the reason why this situation happened, while adding that she had never stopped her child from going to her grandparents (the husband's parents), whom she lost in an accident a year ago .
She asks the State Police to find her little one as soon as possible, as she feels worried about his condition.
"I am worried. I don't know where my child is. I don't know if it's good. I ask the police to make it possible to find him. I don't know why this happened as I have never prevented the child from going to his grandparents," she said.
