The premises of the Tirana Local Police Directorate were engulfed in flames this afternoon, causing material damage.
It is learned that the fire started on the ground floor of the building. The flames initially started on the floor, where several electrical cables were burned.
It was the reaction of the police officers themselves that prevented the spread of the flames, as the officers intervened immediately by extinguishing the fire with hand-held extinguishers located in the institution. Preliminary expertise suggests that the cause of this incident was an overload in the electrical network.
Fortunately, according to preliminary reports, no people were injured or trapped. Meanwhile, firefighting forces have also arrived at the Police Directorate.
