Unbridled fantasy in "Liza in Wonderland", what is hidden behind the

"Alice in Wonderland" is one of the most famous children's stories in the world. From the time it was first published in 1865, new copies have never ceased to be printed until today. While almost anyone can relate the events of a fictional story, few people know the true story behind the book. Did you know that Liza was a real person? That's exactly how it is! Her name was Alice Pleasance Hargreaves.

How the story of the book began

Alice was only 4 years old at the time, but of the three girls she was the most confident and adventurous. At the age of 10, Alice was traveling by boat with her two sisters, aged 8 and 13, and Charles Dodgson, a mathematician at the time, who was formally known as Lewis Carroll Dodgson was a friend of the three girls' father, Henry Liddell Dean of Oxford University.

Ailce asked Dodgson to tell her a tale, about her and her sisters. As the boat continues sailing, Charles tells the girls a fantastical tale about a little girl named Alice. Dodgson was so fascinated with the girl that she became his muse. Eventually he wrote a story about a magical world and published Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. But behind the imaginary world would be hidden a world of sexual harassment, drugs and full of 'dark' secrets between the author and the little girl of the family.

He would never have known that his book would become a worldwide phenomenon and that for years to come researchers would analyze his life, discovering what dark secrets he might have hidden in his tortured mind.

The issue of sexuality

Charles Dodgson spent a lot of time hanging out with girls instead of making friends with adults. Witnesses said he "collected" children whom he befriended and met wherever he was. Uvak asked their parents if he could photograph them. He also wrote letters to Alice saying he wished he could kiss her. He even asked to take a lock of her hair. As part of the faculty of Oxford Christ Church, he was part of a group of celibate clerical academics. Their academic background taught them that sex interferes with clear thinking. He was taught to suppress any sexual feelings he might have had, as they were all considered sinful.

In some of his letters to friends, he said that he loves children, "but not boys". However, his defenders argue that these statements were taken largely out of the context of a conversation about preferences for photographic subjects rather than sexual attraction. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and there is no conclusive evidence to prove that he ever molested any children. One of the most controversial photos of Alice Liddell is of her as a very young girl, just 6 years old, posing in a maid costume. Her dress is torn and falls off her shoulders revealing her breasts. She has one hand on her hip and her gaze is sharp as she looks into the camera. Her eyes seem to be much older than the girl's eyes. Modern scholars find this picture disturbing.

The real Alice was tired of fame

Years before child stars starred in television and movies, Alice Liddell became a household name because she was the real Alice in Wonderland. Her photos could be found, so people knew what she looked like and where she lived. She could not go anywhere in public without commenting on her story and questions about Alice in Wonderland. As she got older, she grew tired of being attached to the character. When she was 11, her family stopped associating with Charles Dodgson, but he still managed to photograph her when she turned 18. It is easy to see in the photo that she looks very unhappy and uncomfortable.

The drug debate

Because 'Alice in Wonderland' is such a strange story, filled with surreal and even terrifying images of a colorful imagination, there are many people who assume that Lewis Carroll was out of control and out of his mind. The mushrooms that change the size of the person who consumes them, the bottles of mysterious liquids that Alice drinks are allusions to some narcotics.

When he died, his nieces inherited his diaries. They decided to cut the pages of what happened that day, hiding evidence of something that everyone assumed would ruin their family's reputation. To this day, the exact details of the reasons for the end of their friendship remain a mystery. If the truth behind the case was so traumatizing, his nieces would prefer it never be associated with their uncle's memory. Charles Dodgson never found another woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. In one of his journal entries, he wrote, "I prayed to God to give me a new heart." He died a bachelor.
