Old Albanian stories have been translated into Italian. Eugenio Scalabrino and the unforgettable Amik Kasaruho, have worked for years for Argo Edizioni to publish a dignified work even for the Italian reader.
It was the Italian Institute of Culture that in a literary evening re-presented one of the best works of Albanian literature, this time in the Italian language.
"We can draw parallels between Italian literature, I mention Calvino here, between ancient Greek literature, Homeric works, with this work of Mitrush Kuteli. I say this because I think there are artistic elements of world literature in Kuteli, and these make him an author whose work has points of contact with world literature, in this case also with Italian literature ", said Mimoza Hysa.
" Today we are talking about one of the most popular Albanian authors, one of the best Albanian authors. Kuteli is very dimensional, so much so that it needs a monograph for each of the dimensions it carries. I myself am involved and influenced by Kuteli's literature. Because I think that without Kutel, we remove a brick from Albanian literature, an important material from the Albanian cathedral, which in this case is Albanian literature. Kutel's bad luck is that he operated in the Albanian language. He does not only resemble Calvino, but also Marquez, as Aurel Plasari says. Because the magical realism of our literature does this ," added journalist Enkel Demi.
" I want to stop at two important stations of Kuteli's creativity. The first is that this author operated in isolated terrain. He does not belong to the category of writers of the beginning of the last century. The second is that he writes, retells or is based on the mythology of a people and this requires unique skills. Because he didn't just collect myths or tell them. Kuteli has recreated. Mythology is heavy and hard to hold. It seems easy, but to lighten the weight of myths as Kuteli does, this is a great merit ", said Diana Kastrati.
As for the son who these years has dedicated his life to the most worthy publication of Kutel's works, the publication of this monograph is an honor that puts the Albanian author in front of world literature.
