Three American researchers receive the Nobel Prize in Chemistry

American researchers Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Ekimov have been honored with this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery and development of so-called quantum dots.

This was announced today in Stockholm by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

The structures, also known as artificial atoms, are used, among other things, in modern televisions and are important for quantum computers.
