Popular actress Sofia Loren underwent surgery for hip fractures after falling inside her home in Geneva.

The Italian actress, who turned 89 on September 20, collapsed at her home in Geneva. The diva suffered multiple fractures and was immediately hospitalized and operated on. Fortunately, the operation was successful.

The Italian cinema icon's engagements have been canceled for now, starting with her scheduled appearance at the opening of a restaurant that will bear her name in Bari, Lower Italy, scheduled for September 26.
