"0900" and "Go away, you bastard"/ DP demands Taulant

The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has requested the expulsion of MP Taulant Balla from the Parliament for 60 days. In the request addressed to the Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics, the Democratic MPs argue that Balla has repeatedly used offensive and threatening language towards female opposition MPs.

According to them, the incidents occurred during the plenary session of April 2, where Balla allegedly used inappropriate language towards MP Elda Hoti. This situation, according to the DP, has brought about the immediate reaction of the opposition, which has asked the chairman of the session, Niko Peleshi, to take disciplinary measures.

"It results that the Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, MP Taulant Balla, has used completely unacceptable, offensive, discriminatory and threatening language towards the Secretary of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, MP Elda Hoti, seriously violating her dignity and physical safety. This offensive and threatening language seriously damages the reputation and trust of citizens in the Assembly and MPs, and spreads the message of normalizing such language towards girls and women," the letter filed with the Ethics Secretariat states.

The document also mentions another episode during the same session, where Balla is accused of using unparliamentary language towards MP Fatmir Mediu.

"During the same session, MP Taulant Balla used unparliamentary language that violated the dignity of MP Fatmir Mediu. He went so far as to address him with the words "go away, you bastard" at the end of his speech in the plenary session," the letter states.
