Here's how much MPs and the administration spent on domestic and international travel or hotels...
Public administration and MP spending for 2025 reached record levels, consuming over 3.5 billion lek from the state budget.
According to data from "Open Data Albania", approximately 2.8 billion lek were spent on domestic and international travel alone, while over 5 million lek were paid for hotels and accommodations for officials.
The current law guarantees public administration and MPs a series of financial benefits, including full reimbursement for any official travel, inside or outside Albania, hotel accommodation, daily allowances and other expenses. This system of rewards has become a gold mine for officials, allowing them to travel in complete comfort, without worrying about the real cost to taxpayers.

For trips abroad alone, the figure reaches 845 million lek, while for domestic trips, an even higher amount: 1.95 billion lek. Hotels cost about 5 million lek, which goes to the accommodation of government and parliamentary staff during activities, training or official meetings.
Meanwhile, the 140 members of Parliament received over 7 million euros in 2025, of which 453 million lek (about 4.6 million euros) were for monthly salaries alone. The months of September, October, November and December saw the highest expenditure on salaries, according to the Parliament's own data.
In addition to salaries, MPs also received another 241 million lek, including parliamentary commissions, telephones, rent and bonuses for participating in activities. Travel occupies the main place in these expenses, with a weight of 24 percent.
While the government and parliament continue to talk about "budget savings" and "administration efficiency", travel, per diem and bonus bills show another reality; a political and bureaucratic class that travels and benefits, while citizens pay. / Pamphlet
