The President of the Liberal Party, Ilir Meta, has accused the government from his cell of stealing 38 million euros from IPARD funds.
Meta writes that agriculture is the least funded sector and that Albanian farmers lose 112 million euros from European Union funds.
He further writes that this abuse should be investigated, because according to him, the theft of IPARD funds is a national emergency.
" So far, at least 38 million euros have been stolen from the IPARD program to support Albanian agriculture."
Relief funds that were supposed to go to support farmers have ended up in incinerators that don't exist, in the corrupt pockets of government clients, and in patronage groups.
As if the fact that Agriculture is today not only the most underfunded, but also the most discriminated against sector were not enough, every year Albanian farmers lose 112 million euros in aid funds from the European Union, because for the Government, stealing the state budget is no longer enough.
"Therefore, the investigation of the abuse of IPARD funds is a national emergency, to stop depopulation, to save agriculture from bankruptcy through the unblocking of EU funds, and to restore dignity to the Albanian farmer," Meta wrote on social media.
