81st Anniversary of Liberation, Rama congratulates Albanians on November

Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of Albania from German forces, through a post on the social network "Facebook".

"GOOD MORNING and with congratulations on the national liberation holiday, I wish you all a peaceful weekend," Rama wrote.

Albania was liberated from fascist and Nazi forces on November 28, 1944, after a five-year period of occupation that began with the Italian fascist aggression on April 7, 1939. After Italy's capitulation in the fall of 1943, the country fell under German control.

The liberation war culminated in November 1944. Tirana was liberated on November 17 of that year, while Shkodra and the northern area on November 29, marking the end of the German occupation of the entire country.

Albania remains the only country in the Balkans that managed to liberate itself mainly with its own forces, while other countries in the region were helped by the Red Army.
