MP Ervin Salianji stated that the Democratic Party has really changed as a result of the movement he started, emphasizing that there is a clear leadership problem in the party, but according to him, the focus should not be on names, but on identifying and solving problems to make the DP the winner.
Salianji stated that the way structures and individuals within the party react clearly shows where the real problem lies.
"If you want to see where the problem lies, look at who reacts. Who reacts first, that's the problem," said Salianji.
He emphasized that he has chosen a different approach to articulate concerns, avoiding personalizing the debate.
"If we go directly to the name of the problem in the DP, the whole discussion turns into a clash of names. I have kept the focus on the problems and the way we can solve them ," he said.
However, Salianji admitted that there is a leadership problem in the party and that decision-making, according to him, does not include a large portion of Democrats.
"There is a leadership problem here, it's clear. Two hundred thousand others haven't been asked," he declared.
Salianji also referred to a previously published survey, according to which about 20 percent of respondents said they do not feel represented by any political force, including traditional and new parties.
According to him, this represents great potential for the Democratic Party.
"This shows that there is a large space for the DP," said Salianji, adding that this is the way to overcome, according to him, the government's distortion of the will of the voters.
He emphasized that the other alternative for the opposition would be to paralyze the country through mass protests, but according to him, the real solution lies in political representation and organization.
Asked about personal ambitions, Salianji stated that ambition in politics is not negative, as long as it is positive and helps the political force move forward.
"Ambition is not a crime. If it is positive, it only moves a political force forward," he said on the "Real Story" show.
Salianji added that currently is not the time to talk about internal competitions or concrete personal ambitions.
"Today the DP is different because of this movement. There are protests, there are field trips, there are meetings. We don't have a competition," he concluded.
