The Socialist Party rejects SPAK's request to the Assembly for authorization for Belinda Balluku, who already has her own lawyers for Prime Minister Rama. However, for the head of government, she will continue to be the political leader of the Fier region.
Invited to a direct link was the head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, who recounted what happened at the closed-door meeting of the Socialist Party.
Asked how Elisa Spiropali had voted, Balla said that no MP voted against or abstained.
Duma: Were there two abstentions?
Balla: I am the chairman of the Group and at the end of the meeting, we hold the votes, as is done in a plenary session. I have led the votes on several issues today. In the minutes of my meeting today, I do not see any votes against or abstentions for the decision not to authorize the request in question.
Duma: Did Spiropali raise his hand? Yes or no?
Balla: There were no votes against and no abstentions.
Sulo: You know the EU's position on this issue. You voted not to give SPAK permission to carry out the arrest measure. Why did the SP vote in its own interest, damaging the interest of Albanians for integration?
Balla: I do not undertake to speak on behalf of the EU as you easily assume. The EU's position is that Albania has taken steps...
Sulo: Not about the Balluku issue, please. McAllister and Gonzato have spoken.
Balla: Individual issues are not chapters or groups of chapters for negotiations. We are the country that has made the most significant steps there, compared to the countries that started negotiations 10 years before us. Respect for human rights is a fundamental point in these chapters. There is no power over another power, but there is a 'check and balance' between the powers. Meanwhile, respecting the independence of the Prosecutor's Office and the Court, has been clearly stated in today's position, that the investigation against Ms. Balluku continues intact and independent. This does not endanger it. I am sure of this.
Duma: Will we have any surprises on Thursday? There will be a unanimous vote of the Group…
Balla: I want to clarify something. If you remember, on February 23, when the meeting of the Mandates Council ended, I had taken a position against granting the authorization. However, I declared that I would go to the Parliamentary Group, we would present our decisions… In our case, we had a discussion today and we made a decision, where all the deputies in the meeting today voted against granting the authorization.
