The former President of the Republic, Bamir Topi, has commented on the recent developments of the justice system for the privatization of the former Partizani complex.
Jamarbër Malltezi has been arrested for this file, while the court has set the security measure "obligation to appear" for his father-in-law, Sali Berisha.
Asked how he sees this SPAK attack on Berisha, the former head of state said that this is a matter of justice and she already has her say.
"It has been one of my deepest principles, that the moment an institutional debate takes place, of course it goes to the institutional debate. This is a matter that has gone to justice. In the format of a man who has been at the head of the state, my conviction must be taken into consideration, that the moment justice comes in, the comments are superfluous," he said.
During the interview on the show "Last hour", Topi emphasized that Albania has suffered a lot from the non-separation of powers. According to him, everyone should now wait for the new justice to give the word and the verdict on the issues, which have been investigated.
"Issues that go to justice, I'm a fanatic, they belong to justice. What Albania suffered was the separation of powers. The power of justice is the power of justice and while they have taken this issue into their hands, it is up to them to speak," said Topi.
Further, he stopped at the opposition, which according to him has a great deterioration and this division has deep roots.
"I see a strong weakening of the parliament to control the government. I see a deterioration in the behavior of the opposition over the years in the way the opposition is structured. There is a schism there, which is now considered an early schism. The roots of this rift run deep. They did not come last year," he said.
Asked if the January 21 file should be reopened, the former head of state said that it is not up to him to make pronouncements, but added that justice must be sought.
"Don't expect me to articulate the issues that are in process. Is it due for January 21? It does not remain to be said here, I have said it repeatedly. It is a very serious event, but it is not up to me to say, but justice is always required", he said.
He said that "January 21" was an abnormal situation for the Albanian state, and he even said that at that time the internationals gave help to calm the situation.
"It was an absolutely abnormal situation for the Albanian state. The matter of wild, worthless and paradoxical debates, it is certainly time that whitens and clarifies them. I have consumed many debates and given speeches and arguments in time and years, today I am more attracted. I was alone, I even remember with great respect, the former prosecutor Ina Rama, not only her, but the entire body of prosecutors because working under those conditions above all was a great strength of character and I cannot hide the help of internationals. The event was serious and produced serious consequences. Strengthening democracy comes from strengthening the opposition. The opposition today has a task, which must find the cohesion of the strongest forces, which are inside and outside Albania. The opposition is not three or four names. We need cohesion", he emphasized.
