The action to free up public spaces should have been taken on time and the Municipal Council should have made decisions in the interest of citizens, not businesses. This was stated by the socialist MP, Erion Braçe, according to whom business should be developed without violating the freedom of citizens.
Invited to A2 CNN, he denied rumors that he is campaigning for mayor of Tirana, but said that he is working on every violation of law and order that he has identified during the campaign, not only by citizens but also by officials.
"I am not campaigning for mayor, I am doing my job. I have campaigned with these that are being identified in the territory. My arguments have been the violation of the law and order, not only by citizens, but also by officials, because it all comes from the decisions of the Municipal Council for the administration of public space. I understand that a sidewalk that is 640 cm long can have tables, but a sidewalk that is 300 cm long and has a pole and a tree has no room for a table and the decision of the Municipal Council must be rejected. This interest in collecting as much income as possible cannot be fulfilled in this way. At the moment I am campaigning from the point of view of the pedestrian and those who are elderly who need the sidewalk, this intervention should definitely have been made and the decision of the Municipal Council should have taken into account the interests of these people, not businesses or the municipal police. The interests of citizens must come first ", stressed Braçe.
Brace also ruled out negotiating in favor of votes with lawbreakers.
"They break the rules and we don't want these votes from all those who break the law and to sit down and negotiate with them to leave this dividing table. I'm interested in the votes of people who are interested in public space ," added the socialist MP.
Speaking specifically about Tirana and his electoral zone in the May 11 elections, Brace said that vanities that violate the small freedoms of citizens must be fought.
" You can do business without violating my freedom, here in the block in the May 1 neighborhood of the Paris Commune, small freedoms have been violated, no one in this city cares about small freedoms, to walk freely, to sleep, because here you don't sleep. You don't have a lunch hour to put your head there for two hours, that other guy comes out with a Ferrari with a motor power that is crazy and does laps in the block and calls out to the crowd; look at me, I'm passing by. This vanity that violates small freedoms should not be fed but fought. I do entrepreneurship, but don't violate me. This feeling that I come and violate the freedom of the community cannot work. The construction sector is a scandal ", said Braçe.
Regarding the IKMT action in Theth, Braçe said: "Those people deserve a certificate of ownership. Legalizations must be reformed by law and it is not right for people to stand in line because of corruption."
Challenged by the party, but supported by the electorate, Erion Braçe said he gave a lesson to the youth after the May 11 elections.
"I saw being a deputy as a job and you have to respond to the job, since '96 onwards I have taken everything with a competition. I have seen it realistically and when others have said that we will win, we will take it. No, I thought that you have to fulfill your obligations until the end. If you do not do the job and do not respond to the people, it becomes more difficult and I gave this as advice to the new deputies; you do not become a deputy with 30 days of campaigning, but with 4 years. I am a public servant in politics. If the interests of those who voted for you are violated, I will protect the interests of those who voted for me ," he concluded.
