Alesia Balliu has reacted regarding the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party, making strong accusations about the way this political force is being run and questioning the legitimacy of the current leadership.
Balliu stated that the Democratic Party is being controlled by a small group of individuals who, according to her, do not respect the law and the party's statute, imposing decision-making through force. She emphasized that a political force that does not implement the rules within itself cannot claim to lead the country.
"The moment you self-exclude yourself from the Statute... you are not enforcing the law here and are showing force. This party cannot defeat the SP when it does not respect the law," Balliu said.
Balliu stated that he does not recognize Sali Berisha as the leader of the Democratic Party, and added that he no longer represents the Democrats.
"Berisha's political time is over... He does not respect the law and cannot be an example to follow. Support for him comes more from coercion than from conviction ," she said.
Asked about the possibility of running, Balliu harshly criticized Secretary General Flamur Noka, questioning his competence and legitimacy: "I will not allow a mediocre person like Flamur Noka to evaluate my candidacy... I will follow every legal step."
She also opposed the method of selecting candidates, describing the process as undemocratic. Balliu also stated that the situation in the DP can be resolved through legal institutions, including the court.
"In such cases we must go to court... Berisha is no longer the leader. Democrats should reflect on the leadership of the party and its ability to confront political opponents," said Alesia Balliu.
In conclusion, Balliu described the situation in the party as a lack of democracy and real competition, accusing Berisha of complete control of the structures.
"I am not Berisha's puppet... No competition, no democracy. My challenge is to restore competition and democratic principles within the DP," she declared.
