Socialist MP Erion Braçe has exploded in Parliament today against the Minister of Agriculture, Andis Salla, after the latter was absent from the interpellation requested by him on the issue of stray animals and the way they are treated after death.
Braçe described the minister's absence as a serious lack of respect for the Assembly and an attempt to avoid political responsibility for the alarming situation in the veterinary sector and the management of stray animals. The minister also avoided an interpellation on May 7.
As he took the floor, the socialist MP ironized the fact that the Minister of Agriculture had delegated the parliamentary confrontation to the Minister for Local Government, Ervin Demo.
" It is a profound lack of respect for the Assembly. A lack of respect that does not hide the epic inability to read, not simply to not do the job ," declared Brace.
He insisted that direct responsibility for the situation falls on the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Veterinary Agency and Minister Andis Salla himself, who according to him is avoiding public confrontation.
" This does not make me forget that the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Agency and the Minister of Agriculture are directly responsible ," said Brace.
The socialist MP also raised his voice against the way in which, according to him, the parliamentary procedure is being distorted, stating that no one can decide on behalf of the MP which minister to conduct the interpellation with.
" A group leader cannot determine with whom I should make an interpellation. A minister cannot determine whether he or another minister will make my interpellation. Neither can the plenary preparation office ," he declared.
Brace also mocked the parliamentary administration and political leaders, saying that the main problem is "mental laziness" and lack of reading the law.
" Since these people haven't done it, I'm reading the law to break the rule of mental laziness that's happening these days ," said Braçe from the Parliament podium.
Despite the absence of Minister Andis Salla, Braçe declared that he will continue the interpellation with Minister Ervin Demo, solely to fulfill his duty as a deputy, while making it clear that political responsibility cannot be transferred.
