
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, arrived in Tirana today, where he was received by Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Prime Minister's Office.

Costa's visit to Albania comes as part of his tour of the Western Balkans and a day before the sixth Summit of the European Political Community (EPC), which will take place tomorrow, May 16, at "Skënderbej" Square.
Today, Costa is expected to hold meetings with Prime Minister Rama and President Begaj, while tomorrow he will co-chair the summit, which will be attended by 47 leaders from across the continent.
The summit, which is being held for the first time in the Western Balkans, will focus on issues of security and European cooperation, under the motto “New Europe in a New World: Unity – Cooperation – Joint Action”. Costa’s visit and the organization of this event in Tirana are seen as a historic moment for Albania’s role in Europe’s political architecture.
