Activist Evi Kokalari has exploded with accusations against the way the Democratic Party has selected the MPs who will represent the opposition in the Assembly, targeting Erisa Xhixho's candidacy and demanding her exclusion from the closed list.
"Who the hell is Erisa Xhixho? Remove her from the list urgently and insert Ilir Alimehmeti who has received thousands of votes from the citizens," Kokalari writes in a status that has echoed on social networks. She emphasizes that Jorida Tabaku and Ilir Alimehmeti are two of the names that have gained the massive trust of democratic voters in Tirana, while other figures have been introduced to the Parliament without any popular base.
Alimehmeti received 13,139 preferential votes, more than many confirmed MPs, but was left out due to his ranking on the closed list of the DP. Kokalari himself, although he does not spare criticism for his "bargaining" with Berisha after withdrawing from the primaries for the Municipality of Tirana, insists that the citizens have spoken with their votes, and the vote must have real power to bring people to the Assembly.
"Tabaku and Alimehmeti deserve to be in parliament. The will of the voters can no longer be ignored in the name of closed political agreements," Kokalari concludes.
