Carrying weapons without a permit continues to be a negative phenomenon in Albania that leads to an increase in criminal events in our country.
This continues to remain a challenge for the Albanian authorities, and in this respect, the Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla has expressed his commitment to put an end to the cases of weapons being carried without permission in car dashboards or in shoulder bags, as usually happens on the streets of Tirana and at the national level.
"My objective and that of the State Police in 2024 is for an even tougher approach to any form of possession or possession of weapons without a permit. This is an open arrogance towards the law and towards the community. And we will put an end to any kind of public expression of people who appear in bars, in public places with weapons on their person or weapons hidden in the dashboards of cars or in other places", said the Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla in the conference for the annual analysis of the Ministry of the Interior.
According to annual data, during the year 2023, 797 weapons were seized (401 firearms, 148 shotguns and 148 sports weapons); 8 remote-controlled mines, about 300.4 kilograms of explosives, 119 grenades and combat ammunition.
