Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has stated that his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, was arrested only because of him.
Berisha made the comments on the show "Now" on "Euronews Albania", where he said that there is no legal reason for the imprisonment of Malltez. He also accused SPAK, calling it a criminal organization that cooperates with traffickers and criminals.
" As you know, I am perhaps the person who attacked the SKAP of the party in the strongest way and I did this because there are the most dangerous criminal groups from all over Albania. When I know that the prosecutor stops the SKAP-ist from receiving 200,000 euros from the trafficker and the policeman who made a concession somewhere is in prison for 6 years, how can I remain silent?
I know that the prosecutor who received 200,000 euros to destroy the file of the one whose brother was killed on the doorstep. I know that he took Bajri to Shkodër, who had killed his 15-year-old fiancee in her sleep. Malltezi was imprisoned only because of Sali Berisha.
If a person is imprisoned without any legal reason, and I can prove it right here with documents, what the prosecutor says in the appeal that "corruption is consumed even by enforcing the law". I have not exerted any pressure on justice ", said Berisha.
