The deputy of the Socialist Party, Petro Koçi, spoke about the arrest of the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, and other former officials of this municipality.
In an interview for the show "Frontline" on "News 24", he stated that with the arrest of Dako, all the words that SPAK is in the hands of the SP are completely dismissed, while he further said that the latter has no role in power or political duty.
According to him, whether Dako is delegated or has political influence in Durrës, is something that is decided by the Socialist Party, while he added that this is a "fable" used by the opposition because there have been several accusations against the former mayor of Durrës.
However, Koçi said that if someone has committed acts that were behind corruption there should be punishment, as he urged SPAK not to be afraid that someone was mayor or in another role to continue the investigations.
" What they say that SPAK is in the hands of the SP is completely destroyed. There are many people from the SP who have been placed under investigation and there have been no important developments from the opposition, for which there are many public accusations. Dako is not in power, he has no political office. If Dako is delegated and has influence in Durrës, he is appointed by the SP, not by the media. Since there have often been accusations against him publicly, this fable of the opposition is used in the campaign. These are nonsense. In the specific case, if the technical expertise that led to the signing of the additional floors was imposed from above, the moral responsibility is greater. The criminal part is another issue. From what I heard, it was about legalizing what had been done.
Vangjush Dako is not Sali Berisha. Where can their political responsibilities be compared? In the scale of the person, they cannot be compared, not even for non-women. I speak as a political weight. Berisha and Meta are big fish. There are plenty of big fish. I don't know who called it cironka. For me, any act that is behind corruption should be punished, regardless of who does it. For me, SPAK has no reason to be afraid that someone has been prime minister or mayor. The election reaped what was sown for both parties. There is no doubt that the SP is strong and has proven that it has had an effect on local governance ", said Koçi.
