"Today's conference marks the beginning of a new and even more challenging phase," declared the Deputy Minister for European Affairs of Cyprus, Marilena Raouna, during the press conference following the Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels.

She congratulated Albania on its progress in the integration process, emphasizing that the fulfillment of the "Foundations" chapter group is an important achievement that paves the way for the country towards the phase of closing the negotiation chapters.

The conference concluded that Albania has successfully completed the group chapter of the Foundations. This is an important achievement. This milestone allows Albania to move forward in the accession process and to provisionally close the chapters. Enlargement is strategic for the Cyprus presidency. We deeply believe in enlargement and are pleased that Albania's accession process is moving forward decisively, with rigorous and fair assessment and conditionality ”, said Raouna.

She also emphasized that the European Union expects not only the adoption of reforms, but also their concrete implementation, emphasizing sustainable results in the rule of law and democratic institutions.

" I would like to congratulate the Albanian government for their commitment and determination to push forward difficult reforms. We know that the accession process is a difficult journey, but it is worth it. Progress is not measured only by the adoption of reforms, but by their effective implementation, a consolidated balance sheet, sustainable and irreversible results. The EU looks forward to continuing this momentum of reforms that has brought Albania here today ," the Cypriot official declared.
