Lawyer Alesia Balliu has reacted sharply after the re-election of Sali Berisha as head of the Democratic Party, a process which she considers suspicious, as the only candidacy in the race was that of the current leader of the DP.
In a reaction on social media, Balliu attacked the opposition leadership and accused the Berisha family of using the Democratic Party for personal and economic interests.
"Sali, the only political scoundrel in the DP is named Shkëlzen Berisha. The only one who is getting rich from the DP's opposition position is your son. That's why you are destroying the DP and its future, because the democrats are getting poorer, while your children are getting rich," Balliu says.
Further, she made a strong political comparison by stating that former communist leaders Enver Hoxha and Ramiz Alia "would feel proud" of what is happening in the DP today.
"Enver Hoxha and Ramiz Alia would feel proud when they see your re-election at the head of the DP, because the plan to destroy the right continues," said Balliu.
At the end of her reaction, Balliu addresses Shkëlzen Berisha directly, warning of continued political confrontation with him.
"Now I am addressing Shkëlzen, because you have turned into a political scarecrow. Shkëlzen, you will have us in front of you every day, because the Democrats and Albania cannot be treated as a family business," concludes her reaction, Balliu said.
