During his official visit to Albania, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was also received by President Bajram Begaj in a meeting. President Begaj discussed with the Turkish chief diplomat about the relations between the two countries but also about the latest developments in the region.
Begaj has assessed that Albania and Turkey are strategic partners and have a traditionally very good friendship.
"Albanian-Turkish cooperation, in all fields, is a fruitful cooperation", President Begaj said.
Also, the head of the Albanian state conveyed his thanks to the Turkish diplomat for the help that Turkey offered to Albania in the reconstruction process after the earthquake.
Regarding the latest developments in the region, President Begaj said that good neighborliness is one of the most important pillars of Albanian politics.
"Regional cooperation and good neighborly relations are important pillars for Albanian politics, which guarantee peace, security, democratic stability in the region, and are prerequisites for the integration of the region in the European Union", said Begaj.
The President appreciated the role and contribution of Turkey in the Western Balkans as a natural and historical partner for the peace and security of the region.
He also appreciated Turkey's support for the integration of Kosovo in regional and global organizations, as well as its strong lobbying for the further recognition of Kosovo.
Earlier, the Turkish foreign minister, Hakan Fidam, was received by his Albanian counterpart, Igli Hasani, with whom he held a joint press conference, where he emphasized that the cooperation between the two countries will be deepened in many areas such as economy, education and tourism.
