The deputy of the Democratic Party, Ferdinand Xhaferraj, does not share the same opinion with Sali Berisha regarding the Special Prosecutor's Office against Crime and Corruption, after her request for tougher measures against the former prime minister.
In an interview for the show 'Debate' on "A2CNN", he said that Berisha was wrong to not respect the Court's decision, but also the justice, according to him, acted with double standards.
" I do not agree with Berisha that he did not respect the Court's decision on the obligation to appear. Whether he liked it or not, Berisha had to respect him. On the one hand, we have Berisha, who did not respect the decision, and this violates the principle that we are all equal before the law. If Berisha was wrong that he did not respect a court decision, but justice was also wrong. Double standard justice. In the Tahiri case, the Mandates Commission met for two days. In the case of Berisha, there were 7 relation pages. In 32 years, I have not seen a single case of a deputy's freedom being restricted without removing his immunity. The court is dragging it out because it is unclear, that we have a moment where SPAK was wrong and a moment where Berisha was wrong ," he said.
But despite these elements, the democratic deputy expresses his support for SPAK, since according to him he has condemned the cult of impunity and put behind bars individuals whom Rama would not want to have in this position.
" What SPAK has done for me was unimaginable for Albania. I give maximum support to SPAK because we could not think that Albania could reach this far in punishing the cult of impunity. But this does not mean that there are double standards for certain issues. I don't share the same opinion that Berisha shares about SPAK and I don't see it in the service of Rama that SPAK has put behind bars individuals that Rama would not like to have in this position ", he said.
Describing Berisha as moving on a shaky foundation, in spite of Altin Duman, he brought to attention the statements of the former prime minister about the chief prosecutor Ina Rama, that the moment he came against her, he called the boulevard a wash.
" We had a miserable justice system and now we have instituted a justice reform that is yielding results. For me, what SPAK has produced so far has returned optimism that the culture of impunity in Albania can be changed. I maintain a positive opinion on Mr. Dumani's mortgage and Berisha here moves on a shaky mortgage foundation. We have Berisha, who made Ina Rama, Silvia Konti, and the moment she faced the challenge, she made the boulevard a wash. And this makes him not serious in his statements, and I think that for Duman's past, he cannot be labeled as leftist or rightist, but for the files he investigated. The culture of impunity is coming to an end ", concluded Xhaferraj.
