Dear Albanian citizens.
Happy New Year 2024, wherever you're celebrating tonight. In your family homes, in bars, clubs, travel, hospitals or prisons. This magical night of the change of years is the night of love, gratitude and hope.
For most Albanians, gratitude and hope can be difficult at the end of a year like the one we are leaving behind.
Albania is no longer the same. Our country has been taken out of the path of democracy and has returned to the former dead end. Dictatorship! In retrospect, Albania lost a lot this year.
Albania finally split with a free vote. In 2023 we saw an election campaign that started with tritol, was controlled by gangs, and ended with political arrests.
Albania lost pluralism. In 2023, we saw the fiercest fight against the opposition since the time of Enver Hoxha. The opposition stole your party logo. The mayor's name was banned on the ballot. And their leader was imprisoned, without evidence or facts.
The opposition was denied the constitutional right to control the government. Albania lost Parliamentarism. He lost democracy.
Gratitude and hope can be difficult in times like these.
Gratitude and hope can be difficult, in the 2nd year that Albania has more deaths than births.
Gratitude and hope can be difficult, at a time when 81% of Albanians want to leave.
But tonight I want to give every Albanian a message of hope. Because in fact hope is the magic of this night. The new year is the holiday of new beginnings. It is the feast of the return of hope. It is the holiday that reminds us, that there is no infinite evil. That there is always a better time.
This year, it had its good points.
This was the year where from the darkness we brought the truth to the light. Therefore, every democrat should be proud tonight, and every Albanian should have hope. Because every bad brings a good.
The 2023 election was like that of Putin's Russia. But 600,000 Albanians with their vote gave us the message that there is hope.
The Albanian parliament today is like that of Lukashenko's Belarus. But 43 opposition deputies gave the message that there is hope.
The leader of the opposition was unjustly imprisoned. But this is only inspiration because it shows that the regime is afraid. Therefore, I will remind you that Sali Berisha will never give up fighting for the truths he believes in for Albania. We will not give up fighting for the young people who leave, for the abandoned farmers, for the forgotten miners, for the teachers with the lowest salaries in the region, for the artists who are led by the patronage, for the doctors stolen from the concessions who see leaving as the only solution. , for the intellectuals that the media of the regime have replaced with paid gramophones, for the former owners who see how their properties are stolen by the families of the ministers as "strategic investors", for the students who do not see security for the future, for the producers, the and whose sweat has been ruined by black money or drug trafficking, for pensioners who can't even afford medicine, for the poor, the unemployed and the betrayed leftists.
Because in this new dictatorship, where Albanians are betrayed from all sides, the anti-conformists, the brave and the resistant are the only hope for Albania.
And for all those who may be struggling to see the light in this dark time, I have just one sentence for them. An immortal quote from Nelson Mandela:
"Everything seems impossible... until it's done."
Albanians will triumph this new year. Our divine mission to save Albania will be accomplished.
Therefore, I wish every Albanian to enter 2024 proud, smiling and with two fingers up. The future belongs to those who dare! Happy friends. Happy new year, 2024!
