An innocent minister for a guilty system...
Finally, Albanian justice found a minister that he himself did not trust when he became minister. Besfort Lamallari, the boy from Dibra with an Oxford degree and a CV smeared with international organizations, was chosen to lead one of the most politically dirty ministries. And this is an irony in itself: a quiet academic who enters a game where the rules are not determined by the law, but by the boss who appointed him.
Lamallari is presented as a Western product, but in Tirana its label is much more earthly: "Fatmir Xhafaj's cherri".
It doesn't matter what he read at Oxford, nor what he wrote about criminology, what matters is who brought him to the door of the Prime Minister's Office. And so, for a moment, justice seems to be saved by foreign books and new hopes, but when you look closer, you realize that it's the same old game: people who come with a halo to be used as decoration.
Lamallari probably never thought of this scenario. And perhaps that is why he seems more like a surprise to the system than a reformer. A Minister of Justice who did not believe in himself, has no reason for citizens to believe him. He is simply another figure who rises to the sky with glory, only to be brought down to earth by the reality of Albanian politics./ Pamphlet
