Researcher Afrim Krasniqi publicly told doctor Ilir Alimehmeti that he did not want to be a candidate in these elections.
Krasniqi adds that Alimehmeti should have had the highest leadership position in Tirana.
"I would not have wanted the gentleman to be a candidate. I would like him to be the highest-ranking official in Tirana. Or if the gentleman were a candidate, he should have the highest-ranking position in Tirana in order to hold responsibility and organize the structures ," Krasniqi said.
The researcher also commented on the appointment of Florian Binaj's candidacy, describing it as forced.
"It makes no sense for a party to seek someone from outside when it has 100,000 members and say, 'Come on, I need a figure.' A meritocracy mechanism must be created that creates balance and public figures. In this specific case, the opposition put forward a forced candidate rather than a candidacy that seeks to challenge, also because these elections are not creating opportunities for debate ," Krasniqi concluded.
