Albania has officially entered the election year. On May 11, the citizens will vote for the new government and we will have another Rama-Berisha showdown. But it seems that both sides will take to the field with different strategies. Edi Rama is expected to clear the list of candidates, while Berisha will bring back his team with which he once competed.

At the SP Assembly held in September, Rama made a strong warning, stating that the closed list (this year will be contested with two lists, one open and one closed), will only include Taulant Balla and Blendi Klosi, while all other political leaders and MPs with more than two mandates will be on the open list. " It is appropriate to share with you today that deputies with more than 1 mandate, without excluding the political leaders of the districts, who enter this category and I, are in open competition like everyone else. While in the closed list there may be only a few of them who will have specific coordinating duties such as the general secretary, or the new political leader of the diaspora, in the conditions when it will be the first time of participation in elections of Albanians outside the homeland. The main part of the closed list will be the MPs with only one mandate and young men and women who will win the place on that list ", said Rama.

According to an analysis made by " Pamphlet ", there are nearly 30 deputies who have more than two mandates and they will most likely end their careers as deputies, or will be on the open list, where again only a small part will to win. Here we undoubtedly have old names in the SP who have a life in the Assembly, such as Braçe, Majko, Kodheli Xhafaj, Gjiknuri. Meanwhile, we have many others who have 2-3 mandates such as Xhaçka, Pëllumbi, Balluku, Kumbaro, Çuçi, Manja, Manastirliu, etc.

On the other hand, Sali Berisha seems to have the main names of the candidates ready. A few weeks later, he appointed working groups for most of the counties in the country, for the electoral campaign. But most likely, these names are expected to be part of the 2025 lists, not to mention that they will be at the top of them. 

What stands out is that Berisha has brought back some of the old names he had when PD was in power. For the district of Elbasan, deputy Tomor Alizoti has been appointed as leader, while the group will include 24 other people on the staff list, among them many deputies such as Aurel Bylykbashi, Dashnor Sula, Lefter Gështenja, Zheni Gjergji or Qani Xhafa. Arbjola Halimi and Ardian Turku have returned to this district.

In Lezhë, the list is headed by the deputy and deputy speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj, who will have 12 party political functionaries as assistants, among them deputies Elda Hoti and Lindita Metaliaj. Former deputy Albina Deda and Salvador Kaçe have returned to this district.

While in Berat, Eno Bozdo has been appointed leader, supported by MP Kasëm Mahmutaj and 4 others. In Durrës, the return of Get Strazimir, who will take care of Kruja and Fushë Kruja, stands out. Shkodra is awaited with interest, where Berisha will probably bring back Jozefina Topalli. / Pamphlet
