The appointment of Endri Shabani as Ombudsman has not only sparked debates, but has also led to resignations (albeit formal ones).
After strong clashes today in the Presidency, it is learned that Agron Gjekmarkaj has offered Berisha his resignation from the position of deputy leader of the Democratic Party.
According to sources from the blue headquarters, Gjekmarkaj has admitted that his signature for Endri Shabani's candidacy for Ombudsman was a mistake and, as a result, has decided to resign from office.
" The decision to accept it or not remains within your competence, " Gjekmarkaj declared in a direct communication with Berisha, describing the resignation as a personal act of reflection and apology. However, it is learned that Berisha rejected it, requesting to continue in office.
Meanwhile, today, the Democratic Party Presidency has been engulfed in strong tensions and clashes, centered on former MP Ervin Salianji, who has challenged Sali Berisha and Flamur Noka over the way the party is being run and the exclusion of figures with support from the grassroots.
Sources from the meeting indicate that Salianji demanded an account of why the most voted candidates in the primaries were not included in the lists for the May 11 elections. " Why are those who won the primaries not on the lists? Why is Hysen Kadia, who was the most voted in the Tirana district, not on the lists? " he asked Berisha directly.
Berisha reacted with accusations against Kadija: " He did not campaign for a single day. He was in America. I have the messages. In the campaign, he did not work for the DP, but for Edi Rama ."
Salianji immediately opposed the DP leader's statement: " I have photos from the campaign in the villages of Kavaja, where Kadia was active. What you are saying is not true. Honest Democrats should not be excluded. We have turned the party into an exclusion machine ."
The tension increased even further when Salianji added: " Today I thought we had a meeting to overthrow Edi Rama, you have me. You are shifting attention from the real opponent. You are fighting the democrats, not the government ."
MP Blendi Himçi also joined the debate, complaining that many leaders of local structures are no longer participating in Berisha's meetings, but are seeking to join Salijanj's initiatives. " The heads of the group sections did not come to Berisha's meetings. They want to come to you. In the campaign, they worked for candidates like Sara Mile ," said Himçi.
Salianji replied: " Okay, you're going to remove them because they're coming to me? This is the logic that's destroying us. Some people leave us on their own, some we exclude. And then we don't understand why we're left alone. We've become the problem ."
Meanwhile, Secretary General Flamur Noka has intervened, accusing Salianji of deviating from the political line: " With what you are doing, you are serving those in front of you ."
Salianji hit him directly: " Resign, Flamur. You have destroyed the party. The mistake with the Ombudsman is your responsibility. We cannot become the gas of public opinion and not be held responsible ." /Pamphlet
