Journalist Esiona Konomi revealed details from the drafting of the anti-corruption resolution proposed by Rama.
Konomi emphasized that the state-building reform was presented as an idea through several editorials made in 2022 by the socialist deputy Fatmir Xhafaj.
Xhafaj proposed that seeing the spread of corruption, Albania needs another reform after the one in justice, which is the reform that will regulate the system and not the individual.
According to the journalist, at that time Xhafa had distanced himself from the prime minister, but the latter chose to approach him again by inviting him to a meeting.
After the meeting, the idea given to the press by the socialist deputy about state-building, was formulated as a non-paper and sent to the diplomatic headquarters by Prime Minister Rama.
" In 2022, Fatmir Xhafaj wrote an editorial in the press where he said that corruption has affected every state level and that reform in justice is not enough, but a state-building reform is needed that follows the reform in justice and that does not fix the individual but fixes the system, making functional rule of law. At that time, Xhafaj also had a meeting at DASH to promote this idea. But at that time, Fatmior Xhafaj was no longer an influential person in Edi Rama, but was a man left in a corner, who did not even know if he would become a deputy.
We didn't hear about this need for the reconstruction of the state, only when we heard about a summer meeting between Mr. Rama and Mr. Xhafaj that we didn't understand why it happened. Mr. Xhafaj had told his friends that he did not know why Mr. Rama had called him. This was the first spark of the melting of relations between them. Then Prime Minister Rama sent a non-paper to the international community on how the Albanian state needed to do what Mr. Xhafa had said in 2022 ," said the journalist in "Euronews".
