Violence against miners in Spaç, Braçe against Ilir Proda's

Socialist MP Erion Braçe has reacted to the violence that the State Police exercised the day before against miners in Spaç, who were protesting about their working conditions. In an unusual behavior, Ilir Proda's police officers have chosen to exercise violence against the protesters, even though they are not allowed to intervene in such organizations, as in the case of the miners' union protest. Braçe expresses his outrage at the intervention of the State Police, which, according to him, is violating the Constitution.

"Spac, Mirdita, yesterday."

This behavior of the State Police, and the police officers assigned to it, is unacceptable.

It clearly states:

Article 50 – Employees have the right to freely join trade union organizations for the protection of their labor interests.

Article 51, point 1 – The right of employees to strike in matters related to labor relations is guaranteed.

The entire conflict in the copper mine in Spaç arose because the Turkish owners, under contract with the state for the exploitation of that mine, do not want the workers to be represented by a legal union.

Who are these people who want to deny miners a Constitutional right?

On the other hand, in conditions where Albania is in dire need of workers, this brutal behavior of the Police towards workers is intolerable!

In my capacity as the Committee that covers labor and employment in the Assembly, I ask the police not to physically harm even a single worker, as they did yesterday;

"I ask the Labor Inspectorate to go to Spaç, this time not for a working lunch, but to guarantee the rights of workers," says the socialist MP.

Around 70 miners in Spaç, Mirdita, have suspended work in the chrome galleries. They gathered at the entrance of the Turkish company, "TETE Albania Tunnel and Mining" sh.a., demanding the signing of a collective agreement, which they say will improve working conditions and bring higher wages.
