Democratic Party MP Agron Gjekmarkaj has denounced the violence of state police forces against representatives of the miners' union in Mirdita, who were holding a protest.
He also said that some of the protesters have been escorted to the police. In a video published on Facebook, the DP MP calls on the Prosecutor's Office for an immediate and thorough investigation to uncover responsibilities and bring justice.
"DP strongly denounces the violent action of the Mirdita Police and FNSH forces against union representatives and miners who are exercising their right to legal protest.
According to reports, some of the protesters were arbitrarily escorted to the police station where physical methods that violate physical integrity and human dignity were used.
We express our full solidarity with the miners who demand fair wages, safe working conditions, and open and transparent institutional dialogue.
We call on the relevant authorities, especially the Prosecutor's Office and the Labor Inspectorate, to undertake an immediate, impartial and thorough investigation to uncover responsibilities and bring justice.
"Every violation of fundamental rights must be investigated, no one should be above the law ," Gjekmarkaj writes.
