Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a meeting in Berat, stated that claims are circulating on social networks according to which Zvërnec has been sold to Israel and that Palestinians will be sheltered in that area.
The Prime Minister said that the project has not yet been made public, as work on its drafting has been ongoing for three years, while emphasizing that the government has maintained a demanding stance to guarantee the highest standards in environmental and urban planning aspects.
According to Rama, the planned investment is expected to bring around 4 billion euros to the Albanian economy, while studies on the project and its environmental impact are being carried out by prestigious international studios.
He also criticized the reactions of some Greek media outlets and groups opposing the project, raising questions about the alliances that, according to him, have been created against the investment.
Referring to the incident that occurred during the protest in Zvërnec, where a citizen was forcibly escorted away, Rama said that the state has reacted by arresting the person responsible, initiating criminal proceedings against the guards involved, and revoking the license of the private security company.
"Today, the transformation of the entire coastline without starting this investment has increased the value of the property 4 times. They are Albanian properties. What does this mean that we are not giving Albania to foreigners? What does it mean that Albania belongs to Albanians? Who has put it into question? The work is how we will make Albanians feel at home. As citizens equal to other countries, or that it has the possibility of becoming competitive but does not happen because it is afraid. Who protests, should they bring out the project they are protesting about? They have no way of bringing it out, because the project has not been brought out yet, because it has been worked on for 3 years, in your name and in the interest of Albanians, we have maintained a very demanding stance the whole time for a project that will bring 4 billion euros to Albania.
