The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, responded to the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who during the meeting of the socialist parliamentary group said that recent developments and attacks on strategic projects have made him consider leaving politics and returning to the "village".
Berisha called Rama an "ordinary fraud" and warned that his political end will not be in the village, but in prison.
From the Parliament podium, Berisha attacked the government for infrastructure projects and tourism, focusing particularly on the Vlora airport, for which he said experts had long warned that the chosen location was wrong.
" Vangjel Tavo comes out, flattens a hill there, have you seen it or not, in Vuno. Others say that he is preparing Edi Rama's escape apartment. Once again I am telling him: Forget that you are going to the village. Your village, Edi Rama, will be a cell. It will be a cell, it will be a cell ," he said.
Berisha's statements came just a few hours after Rama, during a meeting with socialist MPs, spoke about the reactions to the tourist project in Zvërnec and said that the climate created against investments had made him consider leaving political life.
" For me, these are surprising days that for the first time have made me think and deeply humble myself for the great honor you have done me and to apologize for running away to the countryside and leaving it in the hands of those you will choose to protect Albania from foreigners. But I have chosen to do what I have always done, to lead you towards that Albania that I love as much as you do and I love it just as you love it ," Rama declared.
