On the 30th anniversary of the May 26, 1996 elections, Socialist MP Erion Braçe has attacked the current leaders of the Socialist Party, accusing them of forgetting one of the most violent episodes in Albania's political history.
In a lengthy public reaction, the socialist MP accuses the SP leaders of being silent in the face of a date linked to the barbaric violence and electoral massacre of 1996.
Braçe clearly separates the socialists from the current party leaders, emphasizing that the leftist base has not forgotten May 26, while those who lead the SP today have chosen to pass it over in silence. He recalls that many of the current political figures have built their careers on the sacrifice and political conflict of those years.
In his reaction, Braçe also brings back his personal political history, recalling that he was first elected as a deputy in the elections of May 26, 1996. He says that he has found the minutes from that time, which according to him prove electoral manipulation and violence.
Braça's attack is also read as a political signal towards the current leadership of the pink headquarters, at a time when he has publicly articulated his ambition for Tirana.

30 YEARS FROM THE MOST VIOLENT ELECTIONS,
THE BLOODIEST, IN THE RECENT HISTORY OF ALBANIA!
SOCIALIST LEADERS FORGET, SOCIALISTS DON'T!
For all those who were not born on May 26, ignorance is understandable. But everyone must understand that the resistance of the men and women of May 26 changed the course of history in this country, accelerated the fall of a CRIMINAL regime that was stealing and killing. For all those who were minors on May 26, saw their parents massacred after they had taken everything from them, including their jobs, and today they lead, forgetting is inexcusable. But each of them must understand that the history of the Socialist Party does not begin with them. For all the others who know about May 26, have lived it, have learned about it but have not experienced it, forgetting is not political. Each of them must understand that it is the blood of the socialists, of the leftist people massacred on May 26 in the middle; Blood is not water, it does not become water, it is not extinguished with water, it is not forgiven!
TODAY, I HAVE BEEN ELECTED FOR 30 YEARS, WITH THE VOTES OF SOCIALISTS, OF THE LEFT, OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BELIEVED IN THE NINE ELECTION PARTIES!
I have searched several times in 30 years for the minutes of the May 26 elections; I finally found them; I was elected for the first time in these elections, these minutes drawn up after the barbaric violence and electoral massacre prove it.
They are all the same - they show that 95, 96 to 100% of the voter list voted; they are corrected and testify to the massacre and then the massacre; two times, in the first I was the loser, in the second I was the winner - grotesque but with blood.
From June 1997, to 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025, eight times in a row I have run for election, I have been elected with the votes of socialists, leftists and people who have believed; I have stood and tried to do the job, with diligence and loyalty to these people in Polican, BERAT, Kucove, Ure, Divjake, Lushnje FIER; I do this work in TIRANA as well; I AM STILL IN DEBT WITH EVERY VOTER, SOCIALIST AND NOT ONLY, THIS WILL BE THE WAY I LIVE!"
Ore beri mire Sala dhe tashti edhe Rama qe ju ja kthyer ne levere dhe ju ka bere te mundur qe jo vetem doren por dhe kembet ngrini me telekonande te Rames, per cdo vendim, ligj apo investitor strategjik qe Rama do. Nuk keni bzajtur per 1 dekade e gjysem ndaj veprimeve arbitrare te shefir tuaj padron. Nje fjale nuk tha askush, te tregonit dinjitetin tuaj, por votonit kokeulur dhe argunentoni per opinionin publik qendrimet, veprimet, shperdorimet e Rames. Tani cfaredo qe te thoni, nuk ka vlere. Eshte shuuuume von! Ai do tju flaki si mbeturina nje e nga nje dhe do beje si ti doje qejfi. Edhe tyja Brace, qe vetem u ke ardhur rrotull problemeve, por asnjehere nuk u bere burre te thoshnje se cpo ben keshtu kjo qeveri...Ku po shkojne parate e popullit? Kush po i ngre keto kulla e keto cmime? Po populli si e perballon dhe perjeton kete situate? Ju jeni nga ata qe pasi tju hedhi ndonje kocke per ta lepire, ju perseri i thurni kavde. Po tani ai nuk ka nevoje per juve, se ka Berishen dhe 50 petritat e tij , te punesuar nga Berisha permes atyre listave te mbyllura, qe ju nuk patet guximin ti kundershtonit.. Prandaj priteni me qetesi ate pensionin e majm qe do merrni, kur Rama tu nxjerri nga listat e tij famekeqe. Ju e dimi me mire se ne, qe ketu nuk ka shtet te vertete, nuk ka arsim te vertete, nuk ka polici te vertete, nuk ka drejtesi te vertete etj etj, por vetem deshira te Rames qe urdherohen permes telefonit per ti zbatuar vartesit e tij kudo qe jane.
