Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a conversation with students, where he spoke about Albania's EU membership process and the phases of the process, said that he cannot stop young people from leaving the country.
Rama said that Albania is an open country and the movement of people cannot be stopped, not only within the country, but also outside it.
In this way, Rama has justified the emptying of the country by saying that it is the citizens themselves who want to try their luck in Europe or the USA, even though the main cause of the departures is related to lack of hope, unemployment and the economic situation.
"There is no way to stop it. Second, what can you say to a 20-year-old who has the whole world in front of him on his mobile phone? He is in a village reality and who says he wants to go and prove himself in Europe, the USA or Australia. Do you tell him no that you will stay in your country? No, that is a lie. He is within his rights. How long have we chosen to be an open country and glory to God, not like in the previous time when we could not leave Albania, we have accepted the challenge that people move, some will not return, some will return and there is no alternative to this," said Rama.
