The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted to the warning made yesterday that groups linked to Iran may attack certain targets in Albania.
Asked by the media whether the alert they announced last night relates to any specific threat or credible information related to Albania, or whether it is a preliminary warning in the context of broader regional developments, a US embassy official said that "we will provide more information as soon as it is available."
"The Trump Administration has no higher priority than the safety and security of Americans. We are working closely with Albanian authorities to assess the situation and mitigate security risks. The United States Embassy appreciates its close cooperation on security matters with the Government of Albania, which has demonstrated a continued commitment to ensuring the safety of American citizens and all residents of Albania. We will provide more information as it becomes available," the Embassy's response to A2 CNN states.
Yesterday, the United States Embassy in Tirana issued a warning notice, informing that groups linked to Iran may target entities linked to the United States, as well as elements of the Iranian opposition located in Albania.
According to the embassy, these groups may also target public and common places, including tourist centers, shopping malls, hotels, clubs, and restaurants.
American citizens in Albania are encouraged to exercise increased vigilance and take precautions for their personal safety.
The Embassy emphasizes the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to local authorities and its diplomatic contacts.
