The file of the spy Ilir Metaj seems to have ended in the "Greek calendars". A year ago, the Archives Authority and the Assembly were alarmed after discovering that the former president had been a security spy. Mazhoranca urgently started drafting a law that would enable the file to be opened for Ilir Meta. Even the opposition came to his side and everyone trumpeted that all the espionage of Sigurimi collaborators will be revealed.
It has been a year since the review of that law began and nothing has happened. It entered into force in December and has not yet started to be implemented. No data has been released in the media about IM espionage
The Assembly and the Dossier Authority seem to "stick" the responsibility to each other. A few days ago, the head of the Files Authority reported to the Law Commission. Gentian Sula said that for deputies and other officials, the Authority cannot initiate verifications by itself, but must set it in motion in the Assembly. The majority itself indicated that it will send a request, but it seems that it was all just to wash the mouth, because nothing happened.
Meanwhile, today, in the plenary session, a resolution for the Files Authority will be approved. In fact, through this resolution, the Assembly passes the responsibility to the Authority that the files verified by the "Mezini" and "Bezhani" commissions are not being opened. According to the resolution, it is up to this body to draft by-laws.
"The Assembly recommends that the Authority for Information on Former State Insurance Documents, for the year 2023, improve its work in the following directions: Draft by-laws in the framework of alignment with the changes made by law no. 45/2015 "On the Right to Information for the Documents of the former State Security of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania", amended; To report on the conclusions and legal obstacles encountered by the Authority during the implementation of law no. 45/2015 regarding the verification of the figures of officials previously equipped with a certificate of purity of figure. After the legal changes that brought about the abolition of the "Bezhani" and "Mezini" commissions,", it is emphasized in the resolution.
It should be noted that a few days ago, the SP also withdrew from the law that would bring about the departure from politics of persons connected to the Security. It seems that Ilir Metaj will continue to enjoy his holidays in Lalëzi Bay and sleep peacefully. / Pamphlet
