"Rotation is needed", Genc Pollo: Neither SPAK nor internationals can
Genc Pollo

Democrat Genc Pollo expresses great skepticism about the situation Albania is in, even going so far as to claim that neither SPAK, nor the media, nor the international factor can save the country.

According to him, if there is no social awareness and a rotation of power through constitutional means, the country is hopeless.

"The last 12 years have been a sad trajectory for both the opposition Democratic Party and Albania towards a kleptocratic autocracy, and despite the fact that the opposition Democratic Party may not have had the strength that the opposition Socialist Party had before it came to power, or the Democratic Party in 2004. However, the only great hope remains that there can be a positive change in this country. Despite the 101 very unfounded criticisms, some with merit, that are made of it without a political change in this country, there can be no improvement, or there can be no escape from the authoritarian kleptocratic regime that we unfortunately find ourselves in. Not even SPAK, the judiciary, which can help, will save it, not only the free media, which has a great role but alone does not do anything, will save it. Internationals or a good part of them, who have a great role that they can play if they want, cannot save it. If there is no evolution, a "Social awareness, social re-awareness and a political change, there can be no salvation ," Pollo declared on the show Every Corner on A2 CNN.

Pollo praised SPAK's actions in exposing corruption cases, but stressed that the "spaking of politics" is a false hope.

"The judiciary, through the investigation, exposes and takes measures to remove people, of course with the resistance from Edi Rama that we are seeing, but if a minister is punished or a minister is replaced with another minister, even in the extreme case of the prime minister leaving and being replaced with another prime minister, still the normalizing change does not happen. The agony is prolonged and this is a big challenge, it is a difficult challenge ," Pollo stressed.

According to him, the main challenge today is not only power, but the numbing of social conscience, lack of hope and mass emigration, phenomena that, as he said, did not exist on this scale in 2005.

Speaking about internationals, Pollo acknowledged the positive historical role of the EU and the US in the transition, but criticized Brussels' recent stances and cases of diplomatic representatives who, according to him, have turned a blind eye to scandals .

"We must solve our own problems ," he emphasized.
