Lulzim Basha continues his campaign as part of the race for the head of the Democratic Party, which will end on July 29, 2023.
The former leader of the DP held a meeting with the structures of the Democratic Party of branch no. 8 in Tirana. During the speech, Basha said that the DP under his leadership will return to a party where contributions will be valued.
He said that the time has come for the party to break away from the past and orient itself towards Western values. Basha said that the past does not lead anywhere, so he called on the democrats who have joined Berisha to return to the Democratic Party.
" The Democratic Party will modernize, open and unite around values. A party where the contributions will be appreciated will be open to young people and all those who share the same values with us and who want to change Albania with us.
The change that we have initiated in our ranks, with difficult but equally historic decisions, is proof of our willingness to improve, as the only instrument that Albanians have to build a better future.
The long and difficult confrontation within our political family must end, as time proved that it only helps our political opponent and we must focus on the troubles and problems of Albanians.
We cannot waste time holding our heads back, so we extend a hand of cooperation to anyone who sees the future today and who is clear that the old ways lead nowhere.
In our journey, we have chosen to stay close to the precious allies and friends of the Albanians, with the United States of America, the countries of the European Union and Great Britain. Together with them and in alliance with the vast majority of Albanians who want change, we will free the country from the rule of the political and economic oligarchs, we will remove from the shoulders of the Albanians the yoke of the rule of the units, the yoke of the thirty-year-old caste, which has taken hostage democracy for the interests of maintaining and protecting personal power.
Our vision is participatory democracy, control and balancing of powers, the broad involvement of party members, citizens, intellectuals, specialists, entrepreneurs and interest groups in the construction of the political offer, which enables us to federate all the opposition factors around projects and ideas that we share, in clear contrast to the corrupt government. As the best alternative and not as the lesser evil.
Civic Alliance for Democracy will be our coalition to free the economy and advance the constitutional changes that will lead to those of 2008, we will enable open lists, the vetting of politicians, the vote of immigrants, the limitation of mandates ", writes Basha.
