The ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Christiane Hohmann, will leave our country at the end of the first year of work as a representative of Brussels in Tirana. At the end of July, she will leave the position she currently holds, which she started in August last year.
According to A2CNN, Christiane Hofmann will go as Germany's ambassador to Iraq, leaving the diplomatic service of the European Union, to return as part of official Berlin diplomacy.
The press office of the delegation of the European Union confirmed that EU Ambassador Christiane Hohmann will return to the German Foreign Service from September 1, 2023 for her next senior assignment.
It is not yet known who will be Hohmann's replacement in Tirana, which is expected to be known next fall.
Before starting her duties in Albania, in August 2022, Christiane Hohmann was the Ambassador of Germany to Estonia. Previously, she served as Berlin's ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016-2019.
