The counting process for the May 11 parliamentary elections is nearing completion, with fewer than 100 ballot boxes unsealed across the country. According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission, the Socialist Party has secured a landslide victory with 82 seats, giving Edi Rama the opportunity to govern alone for a fourth consecutive term.
Nationally, the SP received 719,967 votes, or about 52%, maintaining a large margin over its rivals.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party – Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition, led by Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta, received 474,067 votes, translating into 52 seats in the Assembly. The opposition has suffered a decline compared to previous elections, but has returned as the second most important bloc, after the 2021 boycott.
In this national race, Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party (PSD) managed to secure 46,882 votes, representing about 3.4% of the vote, sufficient for a minimum representation in the Assembly.
Likewise, the Opportunity Party, led by Agron Shehaj, received 41,854 votes, and remains in the running for a single mandate — after losing another in Tirana to the Democratic Party.
The "Albania Becomes Initiative" coalition, led by Adriatik Lapaj, has received 48,546 votes, passing the national threshold and securing representation in the Assembly for the first time.
Meanwhile, Arlind Qori's Lëvizja Bashkë (Together Movement) is entering Parliament for the first time, turning the open list and personal vote into an instrument for visible political change, especially in urban centers.
