Here are the well-known names who will not receive a mandate according to current data...
The May 11 elections have not only produced winners. A long list of well-known names, some with long careers in politics, ministers and former heads of institutions, are out of Parliament, testifying to the power of preferential votes and the profound changes taking place within the parties themselves.
If for some the loss is a consequence of a lack of votes on the open list, for others it is an exclusion from the final ranking due to the reduction in the number of mandates the party received in the district, or simply due to rivals with more votes on the same list.
Based on the ballots opened so far (there may be surprises), Ilir Meta, the leader of the Freedom Party, is without a doubt the most symbolic name remaining outside the Parliament, for the first time after more than three decades of political career. Likewise, Shpëtim Idrizi, who aimed to return through a coalition with the DP, has failed to win the trust of voters in Tirana.
The Socialist Party is facing a whole "wave" of losses in Tirana: former ministers Olta Xhaçka, Etilda Gjonaj, Mimi Kodheli, but also figures such as Klotilda Bushka, Blerina Gjylameti, Toni Gogu and Etjen Xhafaj have not been able to secure enough votes to win the mandate.
In the Korça district, another important opposition figure like Edmond Spaho remains out, while in Berat there are two-way losses: Hatixhe Konomi (SP) and Lefter Maliqi (PD) do not secure mandates.
Durrës shows strong blows for the DP, with figures like Aulon Kalaja, Ilirjana Kuçana and Andia Ulliri failing to benefit from the open list. From the SP, Alban Xhelili remains out.
Another figure who has sparked much discussion is Arlin Qori, who represented the Together Movement and had built a strong public and media profile. However, he remains outside the Assembly, although with significant electoral resonance in urban centers.
In Shkodra, the DP fails to bring back Bardh Spahina, while in Kukës, Alban Zeneli of the SP is out of the game. In Dibër, the DP loses the representation of three figures with a political profile: Basir Çollaku, Përparim Spahiu and Xhemal Gjunkshi.
Gjirokastra will not have Arben Ristan, another old figure of the Democratic Party, while in Tirana, the great "burn" is also felt by former LSI MP Endrit Braimllari.
The only ones who are not yet completely excluded are Pandeli Majko and Myslim Murrizi. The DP enters 2 names in Tirna from the open list and the race is between Alimehmeti, Tabaku, Murrizi and Dogjan. While the SP enters 7 names and there is a race between Anila Denaj, Pandeli Majko and Xhemal Qefaliaj. Below are the names that risk not getting a mandate.
