Secret meeting with socialist leaders, fear of SPAK investigations and preparation of a political counteroffensive after the Constitutional Court's decision...
Edi Rama held a meeting a few days ago with an important group of socialist leaders in regions and municipalities, as well as with several MPs holding high positions.
The reason for this meeting was to open a phase of "reflection" in the face of some socialists who have begun to explode among themselves, giving signals for changes in the government dome.
This is a version that has been rumored for a long time, as soon as SPAK's major investigations into Belinda Balluku and AKSHI broke out.
Rama is reported to have considered these investigations as a political attack organized from the center outside Albania. "We know who they are, we also know the steps we will take, we have prepared our movements," the head of government is reported to have said, who later announced that they expect the attack to continue even more ferocious and stronger.
According to him, the only way to escape this "aggression", as he called it, is for the majority to remain united and without division of lobbies. He is even said to have used a dramatic expression: "If we drown, we will all drown. There is no option B or option C".
All other options, according to him, are only temporary solutions, which would weaken the country.
The aim, according to the head of government, is not to investigate specific officials, but to strike at the majority that has the political power to lead the country towards the European Union.
There was a lot of criticism at the meeting that there is no public confrontation from the socialists who are being accused every night by politics and the media. Meanwhile, Edi Rama said that everything is part of a scenario and that, according to him, even the majority has prepared its steps.
He added that, even if they succeed, everything will be accompanied by some "victims" or collateral damage. According to Rama, there can be no solution through cabinet changes or "reshuffling" of cadres, as "they seek and will seek to nullify the strong absolute majority of the Socialist Party."
According to him, there are no conditions to go to new elections, because this would give the electorate the message of weakness in the face of the great trust that Albanians have given to the majority.
The Prime Minister has also said that, following the Constitutional Court's decision, the majority will act strongly and quickly, initially by openly stating what it thinks about the accusations made by SPAK.
Afterwards, a series of legal acts related to justice are expected to be launched in the Assembly. "You will be notified at the appropriate time," Rama is reported to have said, adding that these acts are being prepared and will be adjusted depending on the decision of the Constitutional Court.
The aim of this attack, Rama said at the meeting, is to "overthrow us and take away our power before January 22", so he has sent almost all the leaders into the field, who have been divided into groups according to territorial coverage.
Meanwhile, in the coming days, Rama himself is expected to appear in the capital for meetings with socialist militants, to "warm up" the left-wing electorate.
The Prime Minister is expected to speak very little about specific cases, giving more responses and coded signals to those he calls "aggressors."
