Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha has reacted to criticism of an article in the German media in which the Albanian Prime Minister and Serbian President Vučić stated that their respective countries would agree to be EU members without veto rights.
Hoxha defended Rama before the committee and said that the article was just an opinion piece aimed at making the path to the EU more tangible.
In the Foreign Affairs Committee, while reporting in front of MPs, Hoxha said that the criticisms of this article, which is to the detriment of Kosovo, are unrealistic.
"The fact that this opinion cannot and should not be interpreted as an indication of any alliance or as a project. It is just an article, neither an alliance nor a project. The countries of the region, despite the often deep differences and we know what differences Albania has with Serbia, in particular on Kosovo where our positions are diametrically opposed and incompatible to this day, but this shows that even in such situations countries are able to find common ground and European integration is one of those major interests that requires dialogue and pragmatism. Nothing in that article and no aspect of Albania's relationship with Serbia in any way diminishes Albania's clear and unwavering goals for Kosovo or other regional issues where we have different positions," said Hoxha.
